Modern technology and robotics are increasingly finding their way into restaurants and hotels. Robots not only help deliver orders in restaurants, but can also ride elevators on their own. The OREA Hotel Pyramida in Prague has now called on such an assistant to help with service.
The OREA Hotel Pyramida in Prague has now become one of the first European accommodation facilities where guests can encounter our company's new type of robots. They help employees with simple routine processes that do not require human strength. Thanks to them, employees save time that they can devote to guests and their needs.
"If guests get hungry or order something small from room service, it will most likely be a robot that delivers the order to their hotel room door. The whole process is also very simple. Guests just call the reception desk using the hotel phone to say they want chocolate, nuts, prosecco, or even a toothbrush delivered. We then put everything in a box built into the robot and enter the room number where the goods are to be delivered on the display. The robot then drives itself to the room and uses its built-in phone to call the guests and let them know it has arrived," explains Jan Lauterkranz, the hotel manager.

More time for guests
The main reason for introducing robots into the workplace is to lighten the workload of hotel staff. Every delivery handled by a robot saves the receptionist at least five minutes of time. This allows them to devote more attention to guests and not be delayed by tasks that can easily be automated. The change brought about by the vacuuming robot will be felt most by the cleaning staff, who can devote more attention to cleaning hotel rooms or quickly resolve unexpected situations.
"We definitely don't want to replace hotel staff with robots. That's not even possible. On the contrary, we want to use robots to relieve our employees of simple routine tasks that take up too much time. They can then devote the time saved to caring for guests and thus improving the quality of our services," says Lauterkranz, describing the benefits of digitization.

Robots require almost no maintenance, so they do not burden the staff in any way. "What makes this project unique is that the robot is able to call the elevator itself and thus move independently around the hotel. We are the first in Central Europe to do this, thanks in large part to KONE elevators and their special cloud technology for connecting elevators with robots," adds Lauterkanz.
